About
Hi, I'm Bismah
Compassionate. Evidence-based. Family-focused.
I'm the Speech and Language Therapist behind SpeechieB — and I'm passionate about helping young children communicate, connect and thrive.
My path into this work started in Law, but it was seeing the impact of communication support on my own family that led me to where I am today. I completed my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at City University, London, and my belief in what's possible through the right support has shaped everything I do.
I now work with children under 5 in Manchester, supporting speech, language and social communication needs including Autism, through warm, family-centred care — delivered virtually or in person.
My Journey
I began my studies with an Undergraduate Degree in Law at Brunel University, London. After seeing the life-changing impact of communication support on my sister following cochlear implant surgery, I found my true passion — going on to complete my MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at City University, London.
NHS & Early Years Experience
I have substantial experience working for the NHS in London, where I supported over 300 children across primary schools and Early Years Clinic settings — including children with Autism and speech, sound and language difficulties.
What I Specialise In
Now based in Manchester, I work with children under 5 who have speech, language and social communication needs. I'm also licensed to deliver the Hanen More Than Words Programme — sessions are available virtually or in person if you're local.
Family-Centred Therapy
I assess every child holistically, looking at both their current skills and their learning potential. My sessions are calm and engaging, and I actively involve parents and carers throughout — because I believe that open, honest collaboration is what creates lasting progress.
Services
How I can support you and your child
Free Initial Consultation
A free 15-minute video call where we can talk through your child's communication needs and I can answer any questions you have. It's a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and for us to plan next steps together.
Initial Assessment
Before starting any therapy, I always carry out a thorough assessment. This begins with a detailed conversation with you about your child's history, followed by a relaxed, play-based session with your child. A formal assessment may also be included if appropriate.
The assessment takes up to 2 hours and includes a formal written report.
1:1 Therapy Sessions
Each session runs for around 60 minutes and can take place face-to-face in Manchester or virtually, wherever suits your family best. I always encourage parents and wider family members to be part of the session — your involvement makes a real difference.
Travel charged at 45p per mile when applicable.
Hanen Programme
Hanen More Than Words Programme
Parent coaching for children aged 5 and under with Autism or social communication needs.
I'm licensed to deliver the Hanen More Than Words Programme — an internationally recognised programme designed for children aged 5 and under who are Autistic or who would benefit from social communication support.
I run this programme entirely online. The focus is on coaching you, as a parent or carer, to understand your child's communication better and to use practical strategies during everyday activities. Your child doesn't need to be present — this is time dedicated to you.
Together, we'll identify your child's social communication goals based on their current strengths and abilities, and I'll provide you with personalised guidance and video feedback throughout.
You will learn
What motivates your child to communicate.
How to use your knowledge about your child's strengths to set appropriate and realistic goals.
How to make interactions with your child last longer.
Strategies for how to talk so that your child understands you.
Programme outline
